NovaNano proposes to contract for its Customer the launch service for nano and micro satellites with the Launch Service Providers.

Each year, worldwide, several Launch Vehicles are launched with small satellites (1 to 50 kilos) as auxiliary passengers.
These launches are commissioned by one or few primary passengers (large satellites) who define the main launch parameters which are the final orbit and the launch date. Once the parameters are defined, the Launch Service Provider can offer places onboard the launcher to few auxiliary passengers belonging to the NovaNano class of satellites.

NovaNano is keeping continuous relations with all pertaining actors on the auxiliary payload launch services scene and has reserved a certain number of places onboard of the upcoming launch opportunities.

The launch service contract signature takes place at latest one year before the launch date. Such a contract includes all actions and tasks to be realized by the satellite manufacturer, the operator and the launch service provider in order to carry out the launch.

For an auxiliary passenger, the contract is following the terms and conditions of the master contract signed by the primary passenger and launch service provider. In particular, the launch date is determined by the primary passenger and may be postponed due to the delay in the manufacturing process. In such a case, if the delay is too troublesome for the Customer, NovaNano can propose to switch to another launch opportunity thanks to the specific condition included in the signed contract.

This launch services contract starts at the kick-off meeting between the satellite and the launch service provider representatives and finishes at the satellite separation and orbit injection.
The satellite shall be developed, manufactured and qualified in respect with the Launch Vehicle environments (mechanical, thermal vacuum and vibrations environments). The set of all interfaces between the satellite and the launcher are defined in the ICD (Interface Control Document), which becomes the master technical document binding both Parties.

Once the satellite is considered as “qualified for launch” by NovaNano and by the launch service provider, the launch campaign may begin. NovaNano takes care of logistics and process of the satellite shipment to the launch site.

At the site, NovaNano carries out, with the assistance of the launch operator technical staff, the pre-launch verifications and the final satellite integration on the launcher.
